d-cyphaTrade is running its last set of Electricity Futures and Options Trading workshops for 2008.
1. Electricity Futures & Options Workshop - Thursday 20 November (7hrs)| Melbourne
This introductory workshop is designed to increase the understanding of the d-cypha SFE Australian Electricity Futures and Options Products. Participants that should attend include regulators, traders, analysts, advisors, risk managers, trade support and more.
- Agenda includes:
- Characteristics of the centrally cleared futures market
- Reducing OTC Credit Default risk using futures
- Comparisons between futures and Over the Counter markets including valuation of counterparty credit default risk, margining and compliance
- Introduction to the Electricity Futures & Options contract specifications
- Hedging strategies using futures adopted by electricity market participants
- SFE Daily Price Settlement Procedures
- Differences between futures trading mechanisms
- Understanding Margining including worked examples of options and futures margining

2. Option Trading Workshop - Friday 5 December (6hrs)| Sydney
Electricity options trading volumes exceeded underlying physical demand consumption during September 2008. The level 2 "Electricity Options Trading Workshop" will include analysis of option hedging strategies for energy companies and option volatility trading techniques for financial trading specialists.* The Options Trading Workshops will provide practical electricity option trading insights rather than drawing heavily on theoretical options-related mathematics. This workshop is ideal for electricity brokers, traders and analysts.
It is recommended to complete the introductory workshop; Electricity Futures & Options before progressing to the Level 2 Options Trading Workshop.

- Hedging physical electricity market exposures using options (calls, puts, collars, call spreads, put spreads etc).
